Sweet Marjoram – Origanum Marjorana

Sweet Marjoram is a neat shrubby tender perennial that grows up to 30cm with wiry, red-brown stems and downy grey-green aromatic leaves. It produces tiny white flowers on clustered spikes in the summer. Similar to oregano, but noticeably sweeter, sweet marjoram is ideal on pizzas, fish and pasta dishes. The fresh perfume of sweet marjoram is delightful in potpourri and scented pillows or in linen drawers.

Sow from spring onwards under glass in warmth. When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into pots or boxes and grow on. Gradually harden off and plant out.
