Beet Leaf Swiss Chard

Use the deep green leaves in place of spinach. The white mid-ribs are delicious when cooked like asparagus. Swiss Chard is also known as Seakale Beet.

Sow from March to July thinly in shallow drills, 2cm deep with 35-45cm between rows. Do not transplant seedlings. As they appear gradually thin until plants are spaced 20cm apart. Pull rather than cut leaves as required leaving plants to continue to develop.
