• Start seeds outdoors in early spring to summer and again in fall for winter crops in mild climates. Prefers direct sun and regular watering. Chard is a cool weather vegetable and may withstand a very mild frost. Acidic soil will stunt growth.
• Cut mature outer leaves at the base of the plant or use scissors to cut about one inch from the ground for baby leaves. Cook lightly to retain bright colors.
