Strong stems holding tiered whorls of deep red flowers arise from vigorous rosettes of tooth-edged leaves. A small proportion will be of the lovely shell-pink ‘Bartley’s Strain’. This lovely plant from China is one of the easiest of the taller ones to keep happy and will be long-lived in most gardens.

Sow the seed finely and evenly, cover with a thin layer of compost. Keep moist and warm. Pot up and then place out in final location.
