Rhododendron obtusum Kermesina is a compact evergreen azalea forming a low, bushy mound of small dark green leaves, smothered in late spring with vibrant pink, single funnel-shaped blooms. Best in light shade and sheltered from cold, drying winds, it thrives in moist but well-drained, humus-rich, acidic (ericaceous) soil. Ideal for woodland and Asian-style plantings, small borders and containers with ericaceous compost; slow-growing and naturally tidy.
