Rue – Ruta Graveolens

Rue is a hardy evergreen perennial, a medicinal herb that can be grown as an ornamental plant. The leaves are an unusual bluish colour, and its flowers are waxy yellow. It is also known as the “herb of grace”. A native of southern europe, it prefers well-drained poor soil.

WARNING – Brushing against leaves on warm sunny days may cause a photosensitive skin reaction. Site away from paths and front of borders.

Sow the seeds indoors, just covering seeds. It needs temperatures above 20C for germination. Transplant outdoors or sow direct after any danger of frost has passed in late spring.
