Sarcococca confusa (sweet box) is a shade-loving, evergreen shrub with glossy dark green leaves and intensely fragrant small white flowers in winter, typically from December to March, often followed by shiny black berries. Slow-growing and naturally bushy, it thrives in moist but well-drained, fertile soil in partial to full shade, making an excellent choice for entrances, shady borders, woodland edges, containers, or a low, clipped hedge.
