Cowslip Primula Veris

Cowslip is the popular wild flower with wonderful yellow flowers in April and May. Cowslip is pollinated by long tongued bees, butterflies, moths and bee flies.

To get the best germination the seed needs a period of cold so sow them in the autumn or expose them to chilling in a fridge for 4 – 6 weeks before sowing. If germination does not take place in the spring, be patient as germination may take place the following year.

NB. Cowslip may be confused with False Oxlip and the much rarer Oxlip but their flowers are paler, larger and more spreading.
