Red Valerian – Centranthus Ruber

Red Valerian produces fragrant scarlet flowers in clusters, above fleshy pale green leaves in summer. It is very easy to grow and enjoys a sunny spot. Ideal for a dry spot. Also known as Bloody Butcher, Bouncing Bess and Jupiter’s Beard.

Sow the seeds in the spring and place pot in a polythene bag. Germination will take between 3 and 4 weeks. They can also be sown directly later in the spring.
